I will not force my child to participate in hockey. I will try to make it FUN!
I will remember that my child plays hockey for his or her enjoyment, not mine.
I will encourage my child to play by the rules and to resolve conflict without resorting to hostility or violence.
I will teach my child that doing one′s best is more important than winning and offer praise for competing fairly and hard.
I will remember that children learn by example and will applaud good plays by both my child′s team and their opponents; never ridiculing or yelling at my child for making a mistake.
I will leave the coaching to the coaching staff. I will encourage my child to play in a manner consistent with the team′s strategy or plans.
I will emphasize a commitment to the team and to my child’s development that is required through the regular attendance at practices, skill clinics and games.
I will support the commitment to the team concept, and to the social skills learned and developed.
I will communicate any concerns to the Team Manager or Coach. If a conflict or problem cannot be resolved at the team level, the Team Manager or Coach will bring the issue to the attention of the appropriate Lawrence Hockey Associationboard member for action.
I will not question a coach or official′s judgment or decision during a game.
I will refrain from the use of abusive or vulgar language, racial, ethnic or gender-related slurs at any time at the rink or any youth hockey function.
I will never yell, taunt, threaten or inflict verbal and physical abuse upon any player, coach, official or spectator at any youth hockey activity. I will also support all efforts to remove any parent or spectator from the facility that is involved in any verbal or physical abuse at any event. Any of these behaviors will be brought to the attention of the LHA Board for further action and may also be subject to USA Hockey’s Zero Tolerance Policy and Anti-Bullying Policy.
Abuse of officials is now a reportable offense to the NJYHL. The LHA will be subject to fines and/or disciplinary action by the NJYHL when these types of offenses occur. Those fines will be passed down to the parent, guardian or relative of a player who committed the offense. The player associated with this parent, guardian, or relative will not be permitted on the ice for games or practices until any suspensions have been served and any associated fines have been paid.
I will conduct myself in a respectful manner, and hold myself accountable at all times when attending any Lawrence Hockey Association games or events.
I will support a sports environment that is free of alcohol, drugs or tobacco and I will refrain from their abuse at all Lawrence Hockey Association events.
I will strictly adhere to the USA Hockey’s Zero Tolerance Policy and Anti-Bullying Policy.
