PHILOSOPHY
LNHA's core values are FUN, FOCUS AND FUNDAMENTALS. Our goal is to instill in each player the principles of fair play and sportsmanship, an acceptance of personal responsibility for one's own actions, and a love for the game of ice hockey. We see the sport of hockey as an opportunity to help our players develop personal and social skills, self-discipline, sacrifice, teamwork, and a commitment that will be needed as our players progress into adulthood.
We recognize that our members come from a diverse socio-economic background and that each player possesses different expectations based upon their individual goals, needs, objectives, and playing abilities. Our goal is to try to meet as many of these expectations as possible.
LNHA is comprised of Travel Teams and a Developmental Program. LNHA is capable of offering both brands of youth hockey, competitive Travel for those desiring the higher commitment (financial and time), as well as the intramural style of the Developmental Program. Not all clubs offer such variety.
LNHA intends to exemplify the principles and philosophies of USA Hockey, Inc., the national governing body for the sport of ice hockey in the United States, by providing our coaches and referees with USA Hockey -sponsored training.
LNHA is a nonprofit organization. The members are the families of our skaters. At the Annual Parents' Meeting, each family is allowed one vote to elect Trustees from the membership for terms of 2 years. The Trustees then elect Officers to terms of one year. Trustees and Officers are unpaid volunteers from within the membership and carry forth the LNHA Mission and Philosophy. LNHA purchases a majority of its ice from the Lawrenceville School & the Princeton Day School and fills the balance of its needs from other local rinks. LNHA is not affiliated with any for-profit venture, nor is LNHA part of any larger (multi-sport) recreation board. By joining LNHA, you can be assured that what you pay goes solely towards the cost of putting your player on the ice.
